The internet radio provider Digitally Imported has recently
introduced a new channel featuring Future Synthpop...
To me it sounds like contemporary dance music meets GoaPsy
meets High Energy, and the whole thing is finished with a
"gay-ish" touch of the 80s.
Gay-ish, due to the fact that a typical feature of this music
are male vocals that sound like relicts from the time that
Disco survived in the gay clubs... :P
Or as somebody commented: "Male vocal heaven"... :DDD
Anyway, the instrumental part of the tracks is fantastic, so
the cheesy male vocals can be easily endured. And hey--
sometimes, the vocals are even quite OK. ;)
On a sidenote: Of course there are tracks that entirely suck... :P
Another aspect I find fascinating is that the number of artists
in this genre seems to be very small. Within an hour or so,
I've heard three tracks of the same artist...
Among the main players there are VNV Nation, Assemblage 23,
Razed in Black, Les Anges de la Nuit, Virtual Server,
Beborn Beton, Seabound, cut.rate.box and a handful others...
And yes, I still love GoaPsy... :P
Here are some samples:
Angels & Agony - Revelation (with VLC Media Player)
Assemblage 23 - I am the Rain
VNV Nation - Carry You
